Kalani Ware is a visual artist from Oakland, CA, with roots in Hawai'i. He creates, experiments and explores his creativity in color. He strives to create works that will inspire others. The variation of colors, shapes and textures he uses not only represents the diverse and multiculturalism society we live in, but our connection to society and each other. His current body of work focuses on these same ideas, sometimes incorporating people. What he loves most about abstract art is that it is subjective. Kalani hopes that people can engage, ask questions and find happiness in his work.
Kalani says his mural, HOPE, “is my attempt to showcase my creativity and appreciation for San Francisco. My inspiration for this project stems from my deep connection with nature through my time living in Hawai’i, working with community organizations, and learning about sustainability and agriculture. I have always been interested in the idea of growth, evolution, and how that could be translated into art. I have created an abstract nature themed mural with the word ‘Hope’ in the middle of flowers and various plants. I like to paint with very vibrant colors that pop out and contrast well next to each other.”
